Southern yellow pine blanket chest (6-board chest) with original hand-wrought strap hinges and til. The chest has applied straight bracket feet with a centre drop. The centre drop is perhaps related to similar features found on pieces known to be from northeastern North Carolina. The box is dove-tailed with the top having an applied thumbnail molding. Found in Nash County and said to have come from an area farm. Chest is painted a dark red-brown, probably original paint.
